On the NetBeez dashboard, a WiFi Network is essentially a monitoring profile for a wireless network. The WiFi network is made up of the configuration details needed to access the network (SSID, security key, etc.) and the Agents assigned to connect to and monitor it.

Create a new WiFi network

To create a new WiFi network to monitor:

  1. Go to the WiFi Tab.

  2. Click + Add New WiFi Network beneath the filter panel.

  3. Configure the WiFi Network (Step 1):

    1. Enter Network Name

    2. Enter the SSID.

    3. Enter a brief description of the network (optional).

    4. Enable periodic reconnection and select a reconnection interval (optional).

    5. Enter the security type of the network; depending on the security type selected, the form will expand to reveal corresponding security credential input fields. Enter security information accordingly.

    6. Enter Band: Auto, Force 2.4 GHz, Force 5.0 GHz, or Force 6.0 GHz

    7. Enter Test Type: Ping or HTTP

    8. Enter the Address: Provide a valid URL

    9. There are options available:

      1. Periodically reconnect: If checked, the WiFi Beez will periodically reconnect to the WiFi network to test connectivity and timing.

      2. Verify Network Connectivity: If checked, once gone through the association, authentication, and DHCP steps, the WiFi Beez will do a quick PING or HTTP test to verify whether the connection to SSID was successful or not; the outcome of this test won't cause regular monitoring from starting; please read more about this test in the WiFI connection timing section.

  4. Click Save and Continue.

  5. Select Agents to connect to and monitor the network (Step 2):

    1. Click on the Agents that will monitor the network. Selected Agents will appear in the list to the right.
Note: If you select an Agent that is assigned to another WiFi Network or Hopping Group, the Agent will be automatically reassigned to the WiFi Network you are currently configuring.

  6. Once you have made your selection, click Save Agent Selection. The dashboard will open the WiFi Details for the WiFi Network you have just created.
